Find every key and value matching a query, each with its own path, then replace what you find inside string values.

About this tool
A query can match three ways. Exact looks for the characters you typed, in order and next to each other, the way a plain text search does. Fuzzy looks for the same characters in the same order but allows anything else in between, forgiving a typo or a half remembered name at the cost of having no exact span left to replace. Regular expression treats the query as a JavaScript pattern, with case sensitivity as its only implicit flag. A search can look at keys, values or both, and a type filter narrows value matches to one kind, string, number, boolean, null, object or array, which also works against a key match, so searching keys with the type set to boolean finds every key whose value is true or false. Replace only ever touches a string value matched with Exact or Regular expression: a number, a boolean and null each have exactly one valid way to be written, and splicing text into the middle of one would produce something that is not JSON at all, so this tool never tries. Object keys are searchable but never renamed, since a safe rename means finding and updating every reference to that key elsewhere in the document, a different and larger job than this one. The matches panel updates as you type in both modes, which is the preview: nothing in the document changes until Replace all is pressed, and clicking any match jumps to its exact position in the editor on the left.
How to use
- Paste your JSON into the editor, or load the sample.
- Type a query. Choose whether it searches keys, values or both, how it matches, and narrow it to one value type if you want.
- Matches appear on the right as you type, each with its own path. Switch the operation to Search and replace to turn the query into a find and replace.
